Snapchat Glasses – The Basics – What You Need To Know?

Spectacles (Specs) by Snapchat, is a way for you to record your day and share it with your friends through first-person video.  They are sunglasses that are camera-enabled.  Specs tell your story from your perspective while you’re actually doing it, without having to stop and record it.  Simply push the button once on the glasses and your 10 second video is captured.  For longer videos, tap the button once to add 10 seconds at a time to your video clip, to a maximum of 30 seconds.  To stop recording, push and hold the button for 2 seconds.  Your snap is automatically sent to Memories on Snapchat.  A small, outward facing light goes on to let your friends know that you’re snapping, so privacy concerns aren’t an issue.

You can even share your Spectacles with your friends.  Just remember to sync the glasses with their device first, as Specs can only be paired with one Snapchat account at a time.  Once your video is uploaded you can use all Snapchat’s editing tools.  Add emojis, texts or edit in anyway you normally would when using Snapchat.

Spectacles come with a charging case.  Checking your battery is easy.  Double-tap on the side of the lens and check the battery indicator.  Specs take about 90 minutes to charge fully.  Battery life is 100 videos per charge or 8 minutes of video.

Specs come in 3 colors – black, coral and teal and are designed to look like regular sunglasses.  They offer UV protection, are durable, comfortable and really, rather stylish.  Unlike Google Glass, Spectacles won’t make you stand out like a techno-geek.  A certified optician can even put prescription lenses in these glasses, making them something everyone can use.

Spectacles are ridiculously easy to use!  Snapchat’s website on how to use your glasses is impressive.  Instructions are incredibly clear, simple and easy to follow.  If you run into any difficulties, Snapchat’s site will have you straightened out in no time.  Product support is exceptional.

So what do we think of Spectacles?  A simple click of a button and you can capture memories in HD that would be missed fumbling around with a camera or phone.  They are easy to use, convenient and functional.  Specs eliminate the need for carrying around your phone or camera, which at times can be cumbersome.  We think Snapchat has a winner with Spectacles and can’t wait to see what will come next!
