Why Fitbit is Still the Best Fitness Tracker in 2017

It seems everyone has their own version of a fitness tracker– Nike, Garmin, Under Armour, Apple, even Kate Spade.  As the fitness tracker market continues to grow, more and more companies are creating their own Fitbit – yet Fitbit continues to claim the lion’s share of the market, and there are lots of reasons why.

Price Point Dominance

Reason #1 – Different price point and activity tracker entry levels to meet the needs of almost every fitness enthusiast and pocket book.  A basic Fitbit Zip product will cost as little as $70 while a top of the line Fitbit Blaze will cost around $300.

All Goals, All The Time

Reason #2 – Fitbits can track virtually every fitness and health goal that can be tracked in 2017.  All Fitbits, even the Zip will Track steps, distance, calories burned & active minutes.  Other Fitbits count stairs climbed, monitor heartrates, send reminders to move, include guided breathing exercises, gps, auto sleep tracking, workout summaries and even on screen workouts!  You can also register your Fitbit at fitbit.com and set weight loss goals, monitor your food intake (calories, fat, sodium, carbs, protein, fiber..).

Wakes You Up

Reason #4 – Silent alarm – a personal favourite.  Why wake up to a screeching alarm clock when you can wake to the silent vibration of your Fitbit on your wrist?

Silent Reminders

Reason #5 – Silent “message received” notification.  A gentle vibration from your Fitbit will let you that you’ve received a text message on your smart phone (when your phone is nearby).  You no longer have to be tied directly to your cellphone – “Ahhhh…. Can you say freedom?”

Accept the Challenge

Reason #6 – External Motivation.  The ability to challenge friends, invite others to weekend warrior competitions, send cheers and taunts makes Fitbit a motivational tool that allows for greater competition (and support) among friends.  Studies prove that people who have a community of supportive health/fitness friends are more likely to meet their health goals.  With an incredibly large fitness community, Fitbit provides considerable support and motivation for it’s users.

Keeping You Motivated

Reason #7 – Internal Motivation.  For those less social or uninterested in a fitness community the Fitbit can help to create a sense of achievement or provide a push to get you on your way by: sending progress notifications, reminders when you are behind on your fitness goal or when you achieve your milestone, and by doling out achievement badges.   Who doesn’t want to get the, “Trail Shoe,” or “Hiking Boot Badge”?

Fitbit Flex

Fashion That’s On Trend

Reason #8 – Fashion Forward.  You can change your Fitbit bands or buy generic bands to fit your Fitbit thereby adding a bit of style to your otherwise drab fitness tracker.  Metal, leather, silicone, red, blue, gold, silver, white, brown, the options are endless!

Cut the Cord

Reason #9 – Syncs wirelessly to your phone or computer.   Good bye cords!!   Hello ease and convenience!

Created the Category

Reason #10 – Perhaps the most important reason Fitbit remains the most popular fitness wearable of all….. they are THE specialists in fitness trackers – it is what they do – they are solely focused on creating the best fitness trackers imaginable.  Every ounce of their effort goes to improving this one product.  And, it is why in 2017 they continue to be the #1 tech wearable in fitness trackers!

I have the Charge 2 with Heart Rate and I LOVE it! I agree with the authour – the silent alarm is one of my favourite things – I love waking to the gentle vibration of my fitbit rather than the annoying gong show that is my alarm!
